Our book is finally here! We launched ‘The Voice that Remains’ on 25th November 2023.
The publication weaves together many strands of PUBLICS programme such as our co-produced exhibitions, events, commissions, book publications, book launches and co-hosted symposiums into a publication over the last 4 years of PUBLICS.
The Voice that Remains, published as part of a four year long Open Up project, explores the keepsakes, the remnants, the traces of exhibitions no longer there, and interaction between people, their acoustic worlds and the sounds of the environment that the listener hears and imagines when no longer there. Here, the voice is explored as material remaining where the agencies of language, sound, silence, noise, music, field recording, as well as the agential qualities of listening, speaking, singing, dancing, and the performative voice as embodied practice.
