On Thursday June 27th from 3 to 5pm, you are welcome to join us for a necessary panel discussion around safer spaces and forms of resistance within clubbing contexts, nightlife and their social structures. The panel brings together Kiia Beilinson (MYÖS), Niko Hallikainen (Performer, writer) and Pedro Marum (mina) who will share their experience and perspectives on questions of safety, oppressive behaviours, inclusivity, representations and activism in our current club culture(s).

How can resistance manifest itself, take form, and make a difference especially in more commercial and established night clubbing environments? What are the main obstacles organisers face when trying to establish harassment-free, non-discriminatory safer spaces, and create more inclusive environments where all are equally hosted regardless of colour, race, gender, sexuality? There is an increasing number of independent activists, collective groups and communities across the world working to protect, support, and provide safer spaces for everyone, and especially to marginalized communities. This is happening concurrently to a growth in more feminist, queer, trans, non-binary, non-heteronormative and decolonialising understandings being proposed as means of (re-)imagining and practicing ‘being socially together’, dancing without discrimination, and sharing our public space(s) in more progressive, respectful and equal ways. How can we enjoy night life whilst building these safer spaces together?
