We are looking for ten young adults, aged 18-21 years old (at start of program), based in the Helsinki/Uusimaa area.

How can arts and culture help us better understand the world?
How can we reach out to one another?

Whatever you’re doing in life, please bring yourself: your background, interests, ideas and questions.

The sessions are facilitated and you don’t need previous experience in the arts to apply!

PUBLICS YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

The Youth Board is a paid position for ten members, meeting monthly between April 2024-February 2025. Together with local and international art workers you will consider how creative practices respond to contemporary social issues. The Board will approach film and video as forms of communication and as they appear in our everyday lives. This is a work and learning opportunity. The sessions are facilitated and you don’t need previous experience in the arts to apply. In Helsinki, you’ll work with our team and partners, engage in workshops and public events and discuss the current cultural climate.

PUBLICS Youth collaborates with twenty other young adults based in Oslo and Stockholm as part of PRAKSIS and Index Teen Advisory Boards. You will have the opportunity to travel to Sweden to meet them and work together.

PUBLICS is an art organisation and educational space collaborating with creative professionals in Helsinki and beyond, to produce events on themes like publishing, research, sound, and voice.

WHAT TO EXPECT

· Paid monthly sessions held in English from April 2024 throughout the year (60 euro/session).
· Collaborating with fellow Board members, PUBLICS team, PRAKSIS and Index Teen Advisory Boards, local and international artists.
· Engaging in public events, working towards a small production, and giving feedback.
· Learning about contemporary art and how to work in the cultural field. Asking hard questions, sharing your answers, having fun, getting creative.
