What’s your take on contemporary art?

We are looking for a group of young people, aged 18-21, curious to understand how contemporary art works in Helsinki.  

Art gives visibility to stories, experiences, discussions: whose voices are we representing? How do we work with art and who gets to work with it? If you’d like to tackle some of these questions with us, this is for you.

PUBLICS Youth Advisory Board is a paid position, where the Board members collaborate during monthly sessions through the year 2023. The sessions are facilitated and you don’t need previous experience in the arts to apply. We invite you to think together, engage in conversation with the team and other invited arts professionals, and collaborate towards a small production. PUBLICS Youth is a work and learning opportunity, offering an insight in the local and international art scene. 

Whatever you’re doing in life, please bring yourself: your background, interests, ideas and questions.

PUBLICS is an art organisation who collaborates with creative professionals in Helsinki and beyond, to produce artistic events on themes like sound, voice, participation, accessibility.

What to expect

– Paid monthly sessions from February 2023 throughout the year (60 euro/session).

– Working in collaboration with fellow Board members, PUBLICS team, local and international artists.

– Learning about contemporary art and how to work in the field. Asking hard questions, sharing your answers, having fun, getting creative.

– Engaging with public events, working towards a small production, and giving feedback.

Write one page about yourself, your interests, why you’d like to be a Board member, and answer the question:

what should contemporary art do for young people, and what would you do for contemporary art?
