We are looking for ten young adults, aged 18-21 years old (at the start of the program), based in the Helsinki/Uusimaa area.

Whatever you’re doing in life, bring yourself: your background, interests, ideas,  and questions. The sessions are facilitated and you don’t need previous experience in the arts to apply!

PUBLICS YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

The Youth Board is a position for ten members, meeting monthly between April 2025 to February 2026. Together with local and international art workers, you will consider how creative practices respond to contemporary social issues. The Board will participate in the production of our program and approach printed matter, publishing, and editorial practices. This is a work and learning opportunity. The sessions are facilitated and you don’t need previous experience in the arts to apply.

PUBLICS Youth collaborates with twenty other young adults based in Oslo and Stockholm as part of PRAKSIS and Index Teen Advisory Boards. This year, we’ll welcome them to Helsinki and work towards a publication together.

PUBLICS is an art organisation and educational space collaborating with art professionals in Helsinki and beyond, to produce events on themes like publishing, research, sound, and voice.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Monthly sessions are held in English from April 2025 throughout the year.

An honorary fee is paid twice a year based on attendance.

Collaborating with fellow Board members, PUBLICS team, PRAKSIS and Index Teen Advisory Boards, and local and international artists.

Producing public events and co-editing a publication, working with text, writing, and printed matter.

Learning about contemporary art and how to work in the cultural field.

Write one page introducing yourself, why you want to be a Board member, and how you are interested in cultural production, curating, and/or publishing, writing, and printed matter. Please include your email, full name, and other contact details in the document.
