Sonic Wilderness Remix – AGF, Islaja and Cucina Povera
Lasipalatsi Square, Kulttuurikasarmi outside stage
6:45 PM – 7:45 PM
As a key part of this 24 hour event we have invited Sonic Wilderness Assembly to perform live together for their Finnish premiere, having previously gathered in New York for the first time as part of Performa 2023.
This assembly of artists includes Antye Greie-Ripatti aka “AGF”, Islaja, and Cucina Povera, who will perform in a dedicated event as individual artists and as a collaborative sonic act. Through a dialogical process, they create movements and responsive interconnections across their works, interpreting and intertwining them with field recordings from Finland.
Sonic Wilderness Assembly takes the particularities of the Finnish landscape and its aural located-ness as their starting point, where concepts of wilderness, place-bound life recordings and lived spaces become instruments and listening worlds. This assembly of sound artists based in Finland invites the audience to become aware of the myriad of human and non-human agencies and sonic reverberations in which we live, move and interact with. As our being with the world and others are changed by the continued ecocide, we are asked to reconsider the anthropocentric viewpoint of Landscape: “Are we still Nature?”
